Length of Minimum Stay?
I did a search for "Renaissance Tel Aviv" as well as "minimum stay length" and 14 day minimum stay" and came up empty, so I apologize in advance if this has been discussed and I didn't search hard enough for the thread.
I will be heading to Israel this summer and wanted to look for hotel rooms. I searched for a several night stay during August and the only property that came up was the Renaissance Jerusalem. Now, I know from reading posts here that there is one in Tel Aviv so I found that property and did a specific search. Nothing in August at all. So I e-mailed Marriott to see maybe the inventory wasn't loaded and got this as a response:
"In response to your inquiry, we called the hotel on your behalf. Inventory is loaded for the hotel, at the time we are preparing this email, up to March 1, 2008. The month of August, all quality rooms are sold out, Superior rooms are available but require a 14 night stay, Executive rooms are available, but require a minimum stay of 7 nights."
Have other FT'ers found similar situations? I've seen 2 and 3 night minimum stays, especially if there is an event in town (I recently read posts where ppl mentioned this happens during the Kentucky Derby), but a 14 night minimum stay?!?! That's a bit absurd if you ask me.

I can see how it makes sense from the hotel perspective. I just haven't really seen minimum stays of this length anywhere else. Most of my stays are in the US and this might be more common Internationally. I was just curious if/what other hotels had these minimums as well. What hotel had a 99 night min stay (or was that just hyperbole)?
