FT vacation
Has anyone on this board ever posted a thread entertaining the Idea of getting a bunch of frequent FT posters together for a "lets have fun and give the staff hell" weekend? I think it would be interesting to see this happen....though i think my managers might sh*t themselves when they see 100 plat. reservations coming in on the same day.
P.S. : I would fully expect half of the resort to be booked on points, and the other half at the VIP rate.

Quite often, some of the larger FT Member Get-Togethers, or "Dos" are centered at certain hotels, although folks tend to get spread out over all of the brands, just like the airlines. One upcoming event will be the Freddie Awards in April, which will be at the Crystal Gateway in Arlington.

Check out the CommunityBuzz forum. There are a number of "Dos" all over the world. And they all have various "pulls" for why they are happening (i.e. location, mileage run ability, proximity to other FTers, fun, etc.)
So having one to to "give the staff hell" wouldn't be out of the question.
Of course it helps to have sometype of mileage/points benefit to most attendees.

1. It is a short stay which burns more points per night.
2. It is a weekend stay, when rates are usuaully lower. $119.95/night at Buttes.
3. At 55K points for 2 nights at Buttes category 6 works out to 0.4/point which is waaaaayyyy below my minimum point value requirement of 2/point.

If its a weekend we could just book it on the meb rate or some other promotional rate close to it. I agree that it would be pretty funney and be intresting for a marriot do

On a serious note, if you are organizing a large FT Do, definitely make sure the hotel knows you're coming. In some cases, hotels have opened the (ordinarily closed) C-lounge for an FT happy hour. ^
