Finally Platinum
.
.
Finally the last two nights from Wednesday posted on my account and my status went from Gold to Platinum.
I joined Marriott rewards in January this year, so I went from nothing to someone to Platinum!!!

Congrats
Heffa,
Welcome to the Platinum level. I've really enjoyed my Platinum status this yr with 114 nights os far.
I'm not sure its better than Hilton though. I made Diamond for the first time this yr and there is some things i really like about thier status.
Enjoy!

On pet peeve, is that Marriott does not offer breakfast in resorts. I think that is a great benefit that Hilton offers, especially since if I am on business my company will pay, but on vacation, it would be a nice add-on!

Congrats! I recently got Platinum as well, although I got it through meeting planning at work. I can't travel nearly as much as I'd like to, so I'm not sure how much I'll get to enjoy the benefits, although I do also now feel like I'm "someone!"

Do we need a new word here at FT? MPR? Meeting Planning Run? You're the first one I've heard of getting Platinum that way.

JetBlueFan, I am impressed that you got platinum through arranging meetings. Marriott succeeded in getting business from you with that incentive.
FWIW, the threshold for getting silver, gold, and platinum through meeting planning is 2, 5, and 7, respectively, in a year.

OP...congrats. I did the same. Been a HHDiamond for a few years, but went from nothing to Plat. I would never give up plat, and you just about cant give me $$ to take diamond!
Plat lounge/500 pt bonus is the greatest. And on award stays MrsPP40 get the wine/cheese and thinks she's the queen!

I was a Plat for many years, but have dropped to Gold for the last two years. Personally, about the only difference I have seen so far is that there were a couple of times I could have used the 48-hour room guarantee. But other than that, I haven't really noticed any difference.

Plat Too
After being a member for about 18 years, I too made Plat this week.
It takes a long time to get postings. Also I have been taking on multiple rooms, but cred only on the shortest stay, very unfair (I think).
Let's see what benefits I get with this status!!
