A heads-up:

If you haven't already you'll be receiving in the mail your MR Account Statement (5/21-9/26/02) in the mail.

Among the other enclosures accompanying it was the usual two-sided "Member Exclusive Offers."

Among them was included one for one of Mrs. Rahmanbar's and my all-time favorite properties for a "get away from it all weekend," the superb Ren Del Monte Lodge & Spa in suburban Rochester, NY.

Above the hotel's name was this -

"Special rate of $102 per studio or one-bedroom suite, per night"

Normally, the absolutely lowest rate available there (if you qualify) is Senior Rate $178. (AAA runs close to it).

Trouble is that neither can be utilized with BBs or EEOs there.

So, when I saw this offer I immediately took a shot at a few weekends in November and all returned "No availability at this location." ( when I utilized M11 and M12 coding).

I couldn't find any mention of a deal at this property among the online offers - MR or Plat Elite webpages.

I called the Plat Reservations line and they could find no mention either and transferred me to the Plat Guest Services Line.

No soap there, but also no explanation. (I told them I thought this was a typo because the hotel never uses "studio" or "one-bedroom suite" as designations for its accomodations - description sounded more like an RI to me).

They couldn't give me an explanation, but agreed it was probably a typo but said they'd take no corrective action until the property contacted them.

So I called the hotel.

Sure enough; an error according to the reservations person - they'd received other calls from potential guests and they already contacted Marriott and requested "corrective action". (A posting on the website, or a heads-up to Marriott and Ren central reservations, I would guess.)

So, for anyone who enjoys this exquisite, unique property (and its exquisite restaurant) as much as I be aware that the offer was, in fact, too good to be true.
