Mariott - an extra set of AA miles

I just happened to notice that Mariott is listed under giftcertificates.com which is part of the aaeshopping program. Another way to get another set of miles for the stay.

Here are a few other options, as well: http://evreward.com/store/go/1443 .

Of course you forgo the 5 points/$ that you would earn with a Marriott Platinum Visa, but some of the mileage offers for Marriott GCs are decent.

Or you could go through the marriott mall and earn yourself extra MR points!I do it all the time.
Will be buying a lot via the NWA mall for their upcoming 20th aniv. shopping spree.

Do you earn MR points on the purchase of Marriott gift cards?

Well gift certificates. If you go to Marriott.com they have a retail mall and one of the merchants is giftcertificates.com,you can buy the certs in denominations up to $200.
I usually buy 8 $50 certs at a time. That way I can break it down so that I do not loose any value.
One thing about the paper certs-If you give the desk $100 cert and the bill is $85 you do not get change back so make sure the final bill is more than your cert.

Yes-I am still waiting to here if gc.com is a valid participant since the rules say no gift cert purchases count.

But gc.com only earns 3 MR points/$ (plus whatever you earrn with your mileage--/point-earning credit card). You're better off just paying for your room with your Marriott Platinum Visa and earning 5/$. Am I missing something here? What's the advantage?
