LPR code help please

Hi,
I am looking to book a room at Costa do Sauipe Marriott Resort & Spa, Brazil. I entered the LPR code and it came up with the following rate:-

"* MISCELLANEOUS RATE * ROOM ONLY * RESORT VIEW * 1 KING OR 2 DBL* MAX 3 PPL IN ROOM" @ 9.99 USD per night.

Does anyone know if this is a rate for general use? It has no special conditions in the Rate Rules.

I would be grateful for advice.

Local Promotional Rate. I have used these before. At the LAS JW for $149/night.

If the rate rules do not detail any qualifications/requirements then feel free to use it.

FWIW, it looks like a mistake fare. If it is a mistake fare, your guess is as good as anybody else's as to whether they will honor it or not. If you want to know the answer to that quesiton, then contact Marriott Customer Service or the specific hotel... or book it and take your chances.

Has anyone noticed that quite a few more properties are putting in very high rates in like 999.99-99999.99 a night for the LPR code? I have noticed properties where I booked such rate, and they did say that they were promos and not junk or local only use have changed. I am finding less and less goodies these days using LPR.

While were on the subject of LPR - I was playing around w/ the LPR code and ran across some no cost stays if you present your "incentive stay certificate"? Anyone know what it is and what people/industry usually get that?
Not willing to drive 3 hours and risk getting asked for it- so won't use it. Just wondering.

You can get the Costa Sauipe for around $100 or less per night. The rate that the OP quoted on the top is 99% certainty not valid. You can of course take your chances but I don't see any scenarios where such a rate would be "honored".

Sometimes hotels might use these codes for employee stays or for dissatisfied guests reimbursements.

You may want to book the cheap rate then book a 2nd room at the normal rate under a different name. Make sure you check in before the cancellation time and see if it works. Worst case scenereo is that you end up with the 2nd rate which is being held under the other name.

Sorry if this takes things OT, but if Marriott is not going to honor a rate (whether it's a rate mistake or a rate code they won't honor), what is their policy about cancellation fees? If you check in after 6:00 pm and they turn you down because of the rate or code, will they try and ding you for rack?

I don't think they could ding you for any cancellation fees if they don't honor your reservation rate. I just wouldn't try to check in after the cancellation deadline as it would eliminate the possibility of a good contingency plan.
