Can't discuss Hertz since they're not our preferred agency.
In terms of the points required - I believe you can purchase up to 10% of the points requaired to redeem a reward and since only marriott would be involved with the posting it's got to be faster.
Give Marriott MR a call (number on the back of your membership card).

You may buy it for $10 (1,000 points) or just call them and see if they will issue the reward by loaning you the 132 points.

You also might want to simply point out that your incidental purchases during the award stay will quickly cover the 132 points, providing that you are staying at a full service property.

Is the 10% Rule Still in Effect? I no longer see it listed on the page describing buying points. It does say there is a limit of 99,000 may be purchased.
Anyone know anything about this being a change?

I receive MR points on cheapie Hertz rentals, and while they *do* post fairly reliably, you can't count on them to show up that fast.
Assuming you are a "normal" Marriott guest - that is, you've earned your points by staying in the hotels and have an active account - I would guess that odds are very high that they'd "loan" you the points.
Worst case, the $10 for 1,000 points is a good way to go. Usually buying points or miles from any provider is at a very punitive rate, but honestly $10 for 1,000 is quite fair.

Isn't there a deal, too, where you fill out a feedback survey after a meal at a marriott or Renaissance and get an easy 250 pts?

Can't you just ask them for the points? seems ridiculous. otherwise... can't you have a meal at a marriott take the check to the front desk and ask them to award you the points? Starwood does that.

If the restaurant or bar is actually owned by Marriott (not just leasing space inside the hotel building), then you will get 5 pts/$ by using the Marriott Visa. But not the other 12-13 points you'd get if you were staying there. (And, of course, those points would post too late for the OP.)
The few times I've tried this at Starwood, the bartender/waiter generally has no idea what to do. At this point, I only ask if it's a significant tab or if I'm doing a promo that simply requires a set number of Starwood postings.
