Marriott in Auckland,NZ

For some reason I am most likely getting a glitch through the www.marriott.com website, but I cannot find anything do with Marriott in Auckland, NZ. Can anyone please mention the names of good Marriott properties near downtown Auckland? Obviously in a city like Auckland, NZ there has to be a couple of hotels there! Thanks!

I was able to take a couple of very nice trips to New Zealand last year, visiting Wellington and Auckland, but I was not able to find any Marriotts in either location.

In fact, I don't think that Marriott has any properties anywhere in New Zealand. :(

@:-) Because there are no Marriotts in/near Auckland.

You guys are kidding, right?

Marriott (a huge hotel chain, one of the world's largest) has NO property in the entire country of New Zealand? Wow! Thats crazy!

We saved our points for years to use on a trip to NZ only to find out what is said above no Marriott properties in the entire country. :td: :td: Guess there aren't to many Silver, let alone G or P that live there :(

My sources tell me that Marriott's first property in NZ, a CY in Manukau City(Auckland's airport location) will open late in 2007.

I spent a couple of weeks in Auckland several years ago and there were no Marriotts then and a hotel search at the Marriott web site comes up with nada now. However, there is a great Hyatt in Auckland and I was able to book a nice mini-suite because of the great currency exchange rate. They had (have) a great Concierge lounge on the top floor serving a great breakfast and super evening goodies.

I don't believe there is a Marriott yet--but Hilton gets rave reviews. There is also a Hyatt--apparently pretty good. Will get there for the first time January 2007.

That's one of the reasons why I keep Hyatt Diamond status. I love their Residences building.

Starwood lost their property in Auckland 2 years ago or so, and Marriott does not have any... :(

Reviving an old post ... thinking of a trip to Auckland but no Marriott or Starwood properties there ... strange.

I'm in the same boat... will be in Auckland next month and NO Marriott/Starwood options. :(

Yeah, it's a bummer that neither MAR/SPG aren't there. There are Hiltons/Hyatt, and I think Accors so for now those are options. I have stayed at the Auckland Hilton before & quite liked it, so would recommend it.

Cheers.

There are no Hyatt at the moment either. The former Hyatt Regency Auckland is now a Pullmann hotel which is a part of Accor. Accor also has Sofitel Auckland Viaduct Harbour. (I stayed there this summer).

A Park Hyatt is planned to open at the Wynyard Quarter waterfront location in 2018.

Sofitel Auckland Viaduct Harbour is the former Westin Auckland Lighter Quay.

It's really amazing that none of the 30 brands of Marriott+Starwood are represented in Auckland. My prediction it that this will change over the 36 months, either through rebranding/renovation of an existing property or through new construction. Considering how many Marriott Rewards and SPG members there are, there's too much money being left on the table.

I'm going to Auckland in late November and am more than distracted by no Marriott or SPG. What a bummer.
