I created this thread to document previous double points promos. These are NOT double VISA points, but double the number of points earned for the stay. A very excellent promo and since the question comes up frequently, I thought it might be nice to have a separate thread so when we do a search its title is indicative of the information contained therein. I had provided this info in another post, but since I was unable to find that specific post, and took the time to go through a couple dozen posts to verify this info, I thought I would try my best to make it more easily accessible on the next go round.

Previous double points for stays when paying with Visa promotions were:If the pattern prevails it won't come around again until Oct 2007.

There was also a targeted promo (not Visa related) for ONLY those receiving the targeted email that occurred from July 15, 2004 to September 15, 2004 which resulted in double points being earned after the first stay.

Ahhh, the Double Points, Double Nights promo after 9-11. That was the first time I made Gold. Before that I split my business between Marriott, Starwood, Hilton, 6 Continents, and Indepenedents and B&B's.

Once I made Gold with Marriott, fewer than 10% of my stays have been outside the Marriott Rewards brands.

One small point - I think stays in the first quarter of 2002 counted toward 2001 AND 2002 for elite qualification. I did a number of stays in early 2002 for no good reason other than to ensure elite status for both years.
