That is odd

I can't think of anything going on in town that would cause that. Anyway, I presume you've called the hotel directly and tried. Failing that if you really need to be downtown, the Westin Grand Bohemian is really nice. If you want to keep with the Marriott properties, there are a bunch over in what we locally refer to as "tourist-land" . Some on International drive would be a 20 minute drive to downtown (off peak hours). Hope this helps a bit.

Best,

Joel

Friends

Try the JW Marriott which is only 25 minutes away from downtown Orlando they are currently offering a rate as low as $139/night using rate code M11 or NPR.

If no other choice, I will strongly recommend the Embassy Suites Downtown Orlando. Is next to Lake Eola Park and the chic community of Thornton Park, which you can walk from the hotel.

Have Fun !!

There's also a fairly new Marriott (perhaps a Courtyard, I don't remember) in the Lake Mary area. You would avoid the tourists here, but there would be plenty of rush hour traffic.

Marriott options east of Orlando

Courtyard - Maitland, off 414 (10 min off peak)
SpringHill Suites - Altamonte Springs, off 436 (15 min off peak)
Courtyard - Lake Mary, off Lake Mary blvd. (20 min off peak)
Marriott - Lake Mary, International Parkway off 46A (25 min off peak)
