Using Govt restricted rates in Canada

I am US Military and I have to go to Toronto next month for work.

I currently am reserved for a room with the following restriction:

Canadian Federal Government Rate *Deluxe Room,1 king or 2 double beds, available to federal, military and Ont provincial employees

Anyone been asked to show or had a problem w/ using a US Govt ID on a room like this?

Thanks.

Gov't rate

I work for a Canadian Gov't and tried to use my ID for Gov rate in the US, they asked and told me my ID wasn't valid! Had to be US gov't. In Canada the reverse is probably true (Canadian Gov't ID) but you may get lucky!

I have booked US GOV in Canada onile in the past.

IIRC there were 2 rates one CAN and one for US.

Check online and then call Marriott if you dont see the US GOV rate.

I don't think the Canadian Govt rate is available to US Govt (I've tried booking govt rate in other countries via phone before, but was told US ID does not apply...Still, you may get lucky and they may not ask for ID at all (I seldom get asked to show it, anyway)..I'd say book two rooms, one at the lowest avail rate (just in case), and one at the Can Govt rate, but play dumb if they reject your US ID at check-in...good luck!

After being paranoid and making back-up reservations - they didn't even ask for ID and instead upgraded me even though I was 2 days short of Gold.

Made for a nice stay

I will be staying in Toronto in a couple months and reserved a couple rooms under the govt rate. No where does it say US or Can gov...just govt rate.

But like bkpsu, I rarely get asked for my id.
