priceline question and miles vs. points question
I have two separate questions....
I recently had a one night stay at the Detroit Metro airport Marriott (1/27 - 1/28) and got the room through priceline. I'm not seeing any points show up in my rewards account. Is that because I purchased through Priceline?
Also, I recently switched from earning NWA miles to earning points. Is there any way to deposit the miles I earned from two recent Marriott stays...back into points?
I know they're dumb questions but I'm not a seasoned Marriott Rewards member.
Thanks for any help,
Deb

Marriott says that only stays booked thru their website will earn Marriott Reward Points
this is because stays booked thru the website dont pay commssions, and the hotels are "charged" for using the reservation system
to pay commisions and give points would make it less profitable
others have gotten points from Priceline stays by
1) having their MR # placed on the reservation
2) making a small purchase and leaving it on the room bill to make sure the stay results in a "non-zero" final bill at checkpout
i dont think you can redeposit miles and get points back
but others here may have a way to do it

What it has said is that purchases at opaque websites like Priceline will not earn points.

When you mention Marriott will only give rewards if booked through their website, I'm assuming you mean no points when booking through other travel vendors or agents as opposed to just calling the hotel or marriott reservations line. I've gotten points by booking directly at the hotel or through the reservations line also, in addition to their booking via their website. Don't want to speak for you but I believe you meant to say when booking with Marriott directly. I've also been able to add my MR number at check-in if someone else made the reservation for me.
I actually think points reimbursement is more related to paying for a certain rate, like rack, corporate, government/military, etc. Most programs terms of conditions specify they will not award points for discounted rates, of which priceline sells.

I never book through the marriott.com website--I have an on-line TA I must use--but I always get credit for the points.

What Marriott Rewards says is what is in their Terms & Conditions.

I had quite a few Priceline stays last year and when I made sure that the front desk inputted my number when checkin in and that the number was there when I checked out I did get my stay credit and few points.
