I have read most of the previous posts on the subject, but there is one point I am still unclear about:

Is it better to directly earn Tesco Clubcard Points for each Marriott stay or is it better to simply earn the Reward points and then when I have enough do a transfer to Tesco? From what I can make out earning the reward points does open the opportunity to get more points etc due to occasional promotions.

I am Marriott Rewards Platinum.

Speaking personally, I always go for travel packages as the best deal. However if you only want miles not stays then collecting marriott points , converting them to tesco clubcard points and then converting tesco clubcard points to BA miles is by far the best.

You only get 1.5 tesco clubcard points per $ spent, whereas you get 10 Marriott points plus bonuses and specials if you collect marriott points. It is a complete no brainer.

125,000 marriott points converts to 35,000 tesco clubcard points converts to 84,000 BA Miles. (or 112,000 BA Miles if you are lucky enough to be on the original conversion rate, no longer available)

For the majority of the posters on this board from the US, Tesco is the largest supermarket chain in the UK. For this to work, I think you would need UK addresses for both BAEC and for Tesco.

As one of the lucky ones that the 800 conversion rate for Tesco to BA I will chnage my earning options on Marriott Rewards right away.
