Just completed 49th night

Almost there for gold but man, this is hard. 2 months ago, I was nada, no points, no prior stays at Marriot - excited as hell when i got silver. Then I got the chills when I realized how much longer it would take to get gold. Now I'm thinking of platinum.

Only thing that sucks is I've read many posts about people who got bumped to a higher status early - not me. The funny part is I had to call Marriott today because they forgot to post my stays for last week.

I wonder if I will get an upgrade on Sunday when I check in with 49 stays instead of 50. :-:

Can't speak for you next hotel, but I started getting the club floor in the 40's.

It never hurts to ask if they could give you a room on the concierge floor.
I remember getting upgrades (sometimes without asking) during silver days.

Good luck

You should definitely ask...I tend to joke about such matters so I may say something along the lines of...

"great, this week I'm going to reach Gold status, perhaps we can celebrate this week by upgrading me to the room without an ice machine or an elevator next to it?"

Who knows, they may give up Concierge floor or a suite as a "thank you" for sticking with Marriott.

My first FS Marriott stay after making Gold I was so excited to get an upgrae. There weren't any available and the asst mgr at the fron desk gave me a hospitality suite. I could have ridden a bicycle inthere!! It was a hoot. ^

Call the MR 800 # and let them see you are at 49 with a current reservation. I am sure they will bump you right away. If it looks like you'll do another 25 this year, tell them and they may setup a challenge and give you Plat early.

I went Platinum this year, and I sure do not want to slip back down.

Good luck and happy travels.

When I was at 49 nights I called the marriott rewards number because I had 10 day stay coming up at a FS marriott and I wanted conc. lounge. It took like 20 mins or so, after chatting with a supervisor who felt that I was putting him out a lot or something but I finally got it. Then my plane was delayed till 1am on night of checkin so I didn't get conc. floor but did get conc. lounge access which was nice.

Thanks all! I'll ask about upgrades tomorrow or just call tonight. Also, I'm booked until the end of the year at that property so they better be generous.
Crap, I've spent every week at the Marriott since September!

I'm just messin with ya...I'd much rather be at 49 nights and no status anywhere but sleep in my own bed most of the year.

Checked in last night and got concierge lounge access. Maybe I expected too much but the concierge lounge at the Doubletree was 10000% better - Marriott even makes you pay for alcohol! I can say that would be my last time in there - I don't need to leave my room for cheese and crackers and sausages - alcohol will do
