Question Transferring MR points

Hey guys I won an auction on e-bay last night and got 45000 points for $360. In your opinion was it worth it, and how do you transfer points from one account to another. The seller wanted to just get me a certificate, but as you know, the more night the stay, the fewer points needed per night, and I'm using these for a week in Cancun in Feb.(If the hurricane doesn't wash away the peninsula!) I have points for 5 nights, now I can stay 7 if I can get the points in my account. Thanks for your input!
Pete

A question that should have been asked prior to placing your bid.

The best you can hope for is to get Certificate. Now, AFAIK the certificates have a name of the MR member on it, I don't know how one would go about using it legally (forget the fact that it is illegal to sell them).

In terms of value $360 sounds about right for 45k in points.

I might be mistaken, but I was under the impression that paper certificates are no longer issued for hotel stays. Everything is done electronically.

No. You can still order a paper certificate.

And you can have the cert issued in someone else's name. If the ebay seller already has the cert in his/her name, the OP could not use it.

in that case the ebay seller would have to make the reservation in his name and then add the ebay buyer to the reservation

Your friend can make a res. or get a paper cert. in your name.
OR if U have a res. already, give the friend your res. info & ask him to order a Point Transfer Form. On the Website it says 'spouse,' but when U call MR, they say 'anybody.'
Note that the friend can transfer in only the exact # of points of which UR short for that res., rounded to the nearest higher thousand. So U need to either extend your res. to 8 nights or make another (dummy) res. at another hotel to get the points into your acct., then a few days later, cancel & reclaim points into your acct. as desired.
