Question Marriott Cheques Expiration?

Hi,
I need to order some Marriott Cheques for an upcoming stay. If my trip is rescheduled to a later time how long do I have to use my Marriott Cheques? I didnt know if they have an expiration date? I did a search and didnt find an answer. Thank you, Deb- Indiana

They do have an expiration date - each cheque has a month/year noted on it. I've seen folks selling cheques on ebay with an expiration in March/April 2006 - so conceivably you can buy them from Marriott and they'll be good for at least 6 months. Another place when you get them is a redemption of points on mypoints.com - they come in increments of $25.

Why do these things sell so high on Ebay?

I just checked completed sales for these cheques on Ebay. They go for over $90! Why do people bother with buying them on Ebay? Just to save $5 or so? Doesn't seem worth the time or risk to me. But, I have been wondering if I overlooked something?

I buy my Marriott cheques from giftcertificates.com via the Marriott mall.
I usually order 5x$100 and 5x$50 as there is a flat shipping charge(small)that way my cheques are fresh and genuine.
I also get some extra points out of it.
One caution-be careful using your cheques at check-in.If you have a remaining balance on your bill(the hotel owes you)you will have a hassle getting a refund and may not get one at all.Better to use a small amount at check-in and pay the balance upon checking out(more cheques, cash or CC)
