Platinum special offer
I have been Platinum for several years now. Because of several factors, I cut back my stays at Marriott chain and have only 26 nights so far this year and still needed 49 stays to renew.
To my surprise, today I received a challenge: stay 18 more nights between now and 12/31/2005 and acheive Platinum status thru 1/2007.
Do not plan to try, but was curious if anyone else got this offer.

My gosh. Marriott is actually making a run for your business. They must have got some new marketing people on board in Rockville!

I had 49 points in the system and my letter told me they wanted 26 more nights. Actually, their info was a little dated...I now have 55 nights, but given that they've lowered the bar slightly in past years, I wasn't quite sure what to make of this. I've been averaging around 60-70 nights the past few years (and have rolled back over into platinum). However I have 18 more 2005 nights booked already and expect to make it this time around

Having been platinum for over 7 years, I was a little surprised that I got a letter stating I had 42 nights so far and needed an additional 33. To me it was a slap in the face considering so many others were being comped to Platinum with much less than 50 nights. I can understand not getting my plat status renewed but I don't understand the point of the letter. Someone who stays a lot probably dosen't need a reminder of how many more nights are needed for platinum.

I got the same little poke in the eye that I needed to step it up and get 26 more nights to get back to PLT. After the recent posts of leather luggage tags I had my expectations up - quite a letdown.
I'll be finishing off SPG PLT, and getting a HH/HY stay in to avoid points expiration, then I'll think about MR.

Isn't that funny, I got the same letter saying I had 49 nights and needed 26 more - same as CPRich and cyberdad. Of course, I am up to 62 by now. Maybe 49 nights is the trigger to send out the letter.

So much for trying to keep a Plats business. I've switched assignments and the town I'm in for the rest of the year doesn't have a Marriott (although I made Plat this year) I may not be able to stay as often next year for my '07 qualification and it sounds like the Challenges are hit and miss offers.

I too received this letter this week and was kind of surprised. I'm usually the one complaining that I never get targeted. The letter stated I was at 25 nights (now 27) and to stay 18 more nights between Sept 15 and Dec 31 to requalify. I have been staying at non-Marriotts lately but I might actually consider going for this challenge.

I have 43 nights. My letter offered reconfirmation of platinum status with 20 more nights before years end.
