How long for Marriott points to post?

Checked out of Marriott Hongqiao in Shanghai on 6 Aug and the points still have not posted. The response from Marriott was that it takes 14 working days (almost 3 weeks!). This must make them the slowest program out there as far as speed of points posting is concerned. Last weekend's stay at Holiday Inn in BKK has posted 2 or 3 days ago. From my experience, Hyatt, Starwood and Hilton are all pretty quick.

I've noticed that a plain-vanilla US stay takes about 6-8 days to post. I also notice it sometimes takes this long to actually bill to my credit card. I don't fully understand it myself...

Outside of the U.S. it really depends on the hotel. My CasaMagna Cancun stay didn't post for five weeks. My Athens Marriott stay posted the day after I got off the plane (so two days after checking out).

U.S. stays always post the following Tuesday for me or not at all (rare).

Interestingly, I did not find any mention of when the points are to be posted in the Terms & Conditions (although I did not read every line). I believe three calendar weeks (Shanghai Marriott's email response) is simply not acceptable and five weeks is ridiculous. As far as credit card charge is concerned, Shanghai Marriott quoted a USD rate, charged me in Chinese Yuan at the time of check-out, reported the charge to AMEX 2 or 3 weeks later during which the Chinese currrency devalued, and AMEX naturally converted to USD at the current rate. You get the picture...
