I just received this email for accomodations in September.
"Dear Marriott Rewards Member,
Due to the urgency of this e-mail, we were unable to wait for the time difference in order to advise you of the following change to your reservation.
The Shelbourne Hotel is undergoing an extensive restoration programme, our owners announced this week that their preferred option is to close the doors of the hotel and begin immediate work on the renovations.
With this in mind, unfortunately we will be unable to accommodate your stay in The Shelbourne Dublin. For your convenience we have organised an alternative 5* city centre hotel, The Westbury Hotel, which is within a few minutes walk from our property. All Dublin hotels are aware of our closure and are alert to the situation that guests will be calling looking for last minute availability. Please find below the contact details for the Westbury Hotel with phone numbers and website address for your reference to check availability and research details on the alternative accommodation.
Your reservation will be transferred to the Westbury Hotel over the next few days and the Marriott Rewards Team will contact you directly with your confirmation number and details."
Is anyone familiar with the replacement accomodations? What's the neighborhood like. My understanding is they are comparible in quality. I'm not too concerned about the switch as long as the new hotel honors the priviledges I am entitled to as an elite member.

I've been to Dublin several times on business and have chosen the Conrad Hilton over the Shelbourne specifically because it has already been through room renovations. Even as a PLT with Marriott, I choose this property over the Shelbourne because of how nice the accomodations are.
Marriotts international liason has been in touch with me and assured me that my reservation will be made at the Westbury over the next few days and that I will be receiving an email and phone call to inform me of my new confirmation numbers. I was also told that the new hotel will be advised how to treat their new "customers", room upgrades will be available, and all other benefits associated with elite status will also be made available. I just have a hard time believing that the Westbury is going to bend over backwards, and whats my recourse anyway if they don't honor Marriotts rules. I guess I will be asking these questions when Marriott calls me back with my new reservations.
Just to be safe, I booked a room at the Conrad Hilton using points
