Points for relatives stays

My dad is a Marriott Rewards silver member. My mom and dad usually travel together, therefore have no problem receiving miles. If my mom were to go to a Marriott hotel, could my dad get the points for it? Do they look at check-in who comes, assuming they book a room for two people, which is usually the same price as for one?

Thanks

Book with both names

We always make sure we list the MR member and the actual guest staying at the property and usually are able to get the points. That way either person can Check in and if questioned say the other is arriving early/left early. I've done it for other hotel chains, too.

luck9876coins,

The Marriott Rewards program is based on individual travel. Therefore, if your a wife stays without her husband, she will need to use her rewards number (and vise versa). If the two stay together, either account can be used.

Once they are ready to redeem their earnings, they need only do a point transfer through Marriott Guest Services. This will allow for the points to be consolidated at the time of ordering a reward(s).

Please let me know if you still have questions about this.

Thanks,

Chris
