Elite Coupon Question

I got my Plat Card for 2005 yesterday in the mail. There were the elite coupons talked about in another thread in the package. Most of the coupons are the standard ones. but there was one I didn't understand.

It said I could use 30K of points to get a 250.00 JW Marroitt cert. (not the normal 60K it would require) But it does not say how to use the cert. and how to order this cert....also -the cert kinda implies that you can use it ony at a JW Marriott hotel....is that true?

Anyone know how this is to work? and how you order one?

Thanks.

I haven't received my coupons yet, so I can't help with your questions. But it would appear from your post that the value offered is still less than one cent per point. In my opinion there are other options which provide better value (such as the travel packages).

Really good question.

The certificate itself is very vague as to how to redeem it, and there aren't the usual exclusions and conditions that we see so often on the back of these certs

Looks like Marriott rushed this one to print and forgot to give some very important information.

Maybe send an e-mail to Chris, our Flyertalk Marriott Conicerge?

CraigS,

This reward works the same as the regular Marriott Gift Cheques available for redemption. Simply call Marriott Guest Services to request the reward and you will be sent the gift cheque accordingly.

Thanks,

Chris

I've noticed that most reward stays, flights, etc. require you to pay for the tax yourself...so a "free" room actually costs you, say, $20.00. (Not complaining about this, just stating what my understanding is).

My question: Can I use Marriott Gift Cheques to pay for the hotel tax?

John Galt,

Marriott Gift Cheques are like a cash tender. They do not apply specifically to certain changes and not others. If you use a $50 gift cheque to pay you bill at check out, $50 will be deducated from the cost you owe.

Thanks,

Chris
