I'm a MR newbie but have a question regarding rooms booked through opaque sites. Do Marriott branded hotels recognize your MR status? (Did a search and couldn't find anything about this.)

Assuming you are Gold or Platinum, they will recognize your satus at least at full-service Marriott properties. Usual rule is drop the Marriott card and no begging is necessary. There is the occassinal person who started yesterday and rogue RI franchise who may not. (Please don't start a new thread asking if they also owe you stay credit. The answer is no).

Short answer is yes, if you add your MR# to the reservation in your introductory letter (which I always fax on PLN stays) or upon check-in. You'll get appropriate elite bonus MRP's for incidentals and points for paying for them with the MR VISA.

We've also always received the appropriate elite room keys/jackets and our status has been recognized as noted in our folio.

Just don't expect stay credit or room rate points, and mums the word if you do. I wouldn't post it here, personally.
