How are points calculated ?

I just checked out of the JW in Washington DC.

My folio balance is $823.17

Revenue if applicable total is $634.41 for 6344 base points.

I will get the 30% plus 500 points but...........

I thought room tax, parking ($25.00 / night ouch!!), and food all counted towards points.

Any help??

The basic rule for the last several years is that only money going to the hotel itself (and related businesses within the hotel) earn points. Taxes definitely do not, although the programming is occasionally faulty and credits points on some or all taxes. Sometimes parking charges do not earn points (if the money goes to an unrelated garage).

However, if you pay your bill with the MR VISA card, the "3 points per dollar" you earn from using the MR VISA card apply to taxes, parking, etc., if it is on the bill.
