"Notes" section of Marriott.com Reservation Page
Whenever I try to put comments in the "Comment" box at the bottom of the Reservation Page on Marriott.com it always tells me the comments are too long and won't process the reservation unless I shorten them. Has anyone else had this problem? Why can't Marriott fix this glitch?
Wouldn't it be nice if you could fill out your profile with a longer list of preferences? For example, when choosing your preferred room location you can choose a "high floor" or "close to elevator" but you can't choose "high floor" AND away from elevator. I wish Marriott would come up with a more complete profile sheet. Maybe this is something Chris can look into.
Thoughts?

I agree, but it has been my experience that what is typed in the comments field is generally ignored by the hotel anyway. Even the "high floor" or "away from elevator" requests don't appear to have any effect. Maybe I'm just unlucky, but unless I specifically bring these items up at check-in, the agents don't seem to pay any attention to them.

I agree, I should have added your point to my email. About 50% of the time I actually get what I request (or close to it).

They ignore most of your requests especially in the notes field. If you really have a special request than you need to call the hotel the day before or the day of arrival and beg and plead and then you probably only increase your chances to 70% of receiving your request.

Same thing happems with the Hilton reservation system.
the comment field is too short for any real requests.

What seems to work more is if, after you reserve online, you call the Elite Services desk to append your reservation with the special request (i.e. corner room, no street level, anniversary). In the past, I've followed up the request with a call a couple days later to the front desk, who confirmed the special request with no problems.

There might be a character limit in the notes field, but I've never had a problem posting comments.
Most usually I use notes to inform the hotel that we require 2 beds ( when the room rate description says 1 king or 2 dbls ) when our son is traveling with us. I've found that 3/4ths of the time the hotel has noted my comment and the second bed is ready at check in. On those other occassions, it's been a quick matter of changing to another room.
The nature of the request may also influence what the hotel does and does not do beforehand.

I agree, there is obviously a character limit and its rediculously small. It always tells me "High floor, AWAY from elevator, extra pillors, Thanks" is too long. It amazes me that on your profile you can select "High Floor" OR "Near Elevator" BUT not both. Isn't it possible someone out there aside from me wants a room on a high floor AND away from the elevator?
