Need to get an additional 26k points
I am short 26k points for a planned 8 day stay at a cat 4 hotel. I know I can buy the points for $260, but am looking for alternatives.
I have 100k Diners Club points, 14k NW Miles, 20k Hertz points, 400k Delta miles. No AmEx miles. I already have a Marriott Visa.
Suggestions?

Well ...
How about checking into a Marriott for one night, putting a $2,000 Marriott giftcard on your room, then paying for it with the Visa. You'd receive:
--- About 1,000 points for the room
--- 20,000 points on the giftcard, as long as it's on your bill.
--- 6,300 points from the Visa (3 times your bill)
I've never tried it myself, but it seems like it would fit all the requirements. And then you could use the giftcard on future Marriott stays. I'm sure you could also burn some of it on your rewards stay, in the form of meals or spa services.

Uh, pay for the room?
This may sound silly, but why don't you just pay for the room for the nights that your current award points won't cover. Since you wanted eight days, you will certainly be staying over a weekend. Hint: the weekend rates are usually pretty good and you could get the Bonus Bucks to offset the cost. You will also get point/elite credit for the nights you pay for.

I recommend buying 6K for $60 to get up to a 7-nighter + either paying with money for the last night or offering something on CC in return for someone else's 20K. Ironically, I have just 26K but no transfers are allowed

sign up for a second Marriott visa. I have 2 my husband has 2. That will get you another 15K points. You could buy the remaining points. You also earn 10 points per dollar because its a marriott purchase and 3 extra points if you put it on your card.

But it certainly seems you could, no? I mean, you can basically have anything at the hotel charged and put on your bill. Why not try? The worst they could say is no, in which case you don't buy the giftcard.

(2) Anecdotally the 'existing Marriott Rewads Visa Cardmembers are not eligible' may not hold true in practice, or at least it is definitely possible to get more than one signup bonus in a lifetime.

You also have the option to transfer your Diners Club points to Marriott Reward points. The conversion is 2,500 Diner points = 1,500 Marriott Rewards points. In other words, 45,000 Diners Club points would get you 27,000 Marriott Reward points.
