Made Platinum last night!

When I checked out this morning, I had just completed my 75th night at a Marriott. So, having been comp'd plat last Fall, I'm now platinum until, when? ... sometime in 2006?

Anyhow, this hotel (Fairfield Inn) and several others in the area have been bought by another group. They are apparently planning on doing a lot of updating/remodeling. For instance, they currently have a very nice, outdoor heated pool. I'm told they will be enclosing it.

They have also talked about adding some bigger rooms, and perhaps some suites. As a plat, maybe I'll get one of the newer ones, although my current room suits my needs just fine. Looks like they might be heading to a Fairfield Inns & Suites operation.

However, I negotiated a rate there last year (~=PL rate ), and I'm afraid they will want to re-negotiate it. Hmmmm.

Let's see ... I'm also a HHonors Gold, and there's a Hampton Inn just across the street. Also, there's a Candlewood Suites next door, and they just joined Priority Club. My company has already negotiated a rate with Candlewood, and it might very well be competetive with where I'd have to go to stay at FI.

Looks like it's gonna get interesting very soon.

You are PLT until February 2006 now. My company had me stay at a Candlewood once. Was suppose to be there for 14 nights. After the first night, I called the company and said they could move me to another hotel or find someone to come in and finish this job because I was not staying in the Candlewood another night. I imagine Candlewood is like all chains, some good locations and some bad. This place reminded me of a crack house with beer cans and beer bottles in the hallways and smell of MJ coming from behind guest room doors.

Talk to the GM of the FI and tell him what your company gets at the Candlewood. S/He'll likely match it if you're there a lot.
