Marriott Promo emails. Do you get them?
On the Marriott web site, I find several opportunities to sign up for various emails for specials, etc. However, for over a year, I've NEVER received any email from Marriott. The ONLY email that I receive is my reservation confirmations, and periodic Marriott Rewards statement. I usually get something about once a week or so from Hilton with upcoming weekend specials, new hotels, etc.
Marriott customer service claims that everything is fine with my Internet setup. But I don't believe that Marriott is not sending out these types of emails, so there has to be something wrong on my account that is telling them not to send me email, doesn't there?
I own my own domain name, so this is not a spam filtering issue with my ISP, as my email domain is not held by my ISP.
Any ideas? Or "secret" contact information to the people that "know" what is going on behind the front line support people?
Thanks!

I agree with jeffcarp. I have been signed up for a few years it seems and have never received an e-mail. I check marriott.com frequently for deals as it is the only way I get them.

Every Monday afternoon, I do get the Marriott E-Breaks listing for weekend specials.
I have also recently received a few e-mails regarding Meeting Planner points and benefits.
Actually, now that I check my e-mail, I do see a bunch of recent ones from Marriott in addition to those I just mentioned, including :
2/26 Warm up with Marriott in Fla and GA
3/16 Weekend specials, Rewarding events and More
3/30 March Meeting Madness
4/06 Springtime Offers from Marriott
4/27 April Group Offers are Abloom
4/29 Savor Summer in the City by the Bay
5/04 Sweet Summer Savings
The 3/16, 4/06 and 5/04 e-mails came in kind of a "statement" format, in that they gave my account particulars including status level and account balance.
I can't tell you why I receive these and others don't.
I do still receive paper statements, however those are very few and far between, and are VERY dated with their information and offers.

Definitely something wrong on the Marriott end. What is the chance of 2 people reading this forum not getting Marriott promo emails that we want and have signed up for?

By the way, who wrote and then who approved such a terrible sentence like that? "Uncheck here if you do not wish..." I may be slow but it takes me several times to read that (slowly and carefully) to figure out what I want to do. Isn't "don't use a double negative in a sentence" a pretty basic grammatical rule? What ever happened to "check this box to receive email?" Make it simple.
Please don't read this too forcefully. I bring this up rather light-heartedly.

Some Answers
All,
I have done some research and there may be a few ways to correct this issue. For those of you who have never received any email offers at all (including reservation email confirmations) depending on your ISP, you may just need to add the three main Marriott Rewards email addresses to your personal Address Book. If your ISP requires you to "allow" certain email addresses to come through, then you can adjust your settings to allow these three addresses.
MARRIOTTREWARDS2@ MARRIOTT.M0.NET (used for reservation & reward order confirmations)
[email protected] (used for eBreak communications)
[email protected] (used for Member Exclusive Offers)
Then, depending on when each email communication is sent, you will receive it accordingly. I do know that eBreaks go out every Monday. If either of the solutions above do not work (as in your case jeffcarp) please send me your Marriott Rewards account number and the email address for which you requested to received these offers.
I want to thank everyone for your patience in this matter! Let me know if there are any other problems. As always I am happy to help!

Chris,
Like with all other vendors, I always elect not to receive emails from Marriott. Does this mean that I will not receive any targeted promotions? I'm not interested in rate breaks etc.
I'm Plat and I've never received any targeted promos ever, not by snail mail nor by email. Should be concerened about the email privacy settings preventing crucial information from getting to me?

Rest assured, there is no need to change your privacy settings. Marriott has only recently begun to do more target based promotions. With any promotion, targeted or general, Marriott always sends out both mail and email communications. If it is a general promotion our hotels will also be part of the process of advertisement.
