Don't know if you think Dec., 2003 is recent but.

I think I posted this before, but absolutely FANTASTIC property, location and reasonable food prices (room service/restaurants). Can't stop thinking about it still.

We were also given a awesome upgrade to a 2 Room Suite with large living room and dining room with a seperate bedroom. I am MR Plat and this was on a award stay no less.

Have fun/

I loved the resort! The beach was superb, as was the pool! Talk about gigantic! The only drawback I found was the constant buzzing overhead of the tour helicopters taking off/landing at nearby LIH airport. But that wasn't the resorts fault, after all and didn't come anywhere close to spoiling my holiday. More like mosquitos buzzing around.

Enjoy!

Tymike - did you book a regular room or Vacation Club room? The Vacation Club rooms are the 2 room suites and I think may even be a few points less for the award (if it's available). We stayed there in the Vacation Club room two years ago and are planning to go back this year. The resort is wonderful.

Thumbs up Great Property

My wife and I went here on our Honeymoon in 2000 and were there last May. We'll be booking again for our 5th anniversary next May. Wonderful property, great pool and great location. The airplanes are slightly annoying (I live close to O'Hare, so it's in comparison it's nothing!), but Lihue is roughly 1/2 way to Waimea canyon and 1/2 way to the Na Pali coast (each good day trips). Being close to LIH is nice when you arrive and when you leave (you can spend more of your last day at the hotel).

The vacation club rooms are nicer and closer to the ocean if you can get one, go for it.

ENJOY!!

We loved it. 7-nt award stay in May '03. We were upgraded to the top floor with a full ocean view as MR Gold. For certain lengths of time (3 nights, I think), the Vacation Club is the same price as a regular room. We had an 087 Package, so we did the "regular" hotel. Truly wonderful place...truly wonderful island.

Will be staying here over the July 4th holiday for ten days on an award stay. Have a confirmed room at the MVC for an oceanfront, 1 bed, 2 bath suite. Will post a full report when I return!

Question Alexander Spa at Kauai Mariott

Has anyone tried (or known anyone who has) the Alexander Spa at the Kauai Marriott? I have a brochure on it from the last visit there...considering it or the Princeville for an upcoming visit. I'd appreciate any feedback if available!
TIA!

I already got my wife a gift certificate for our vacation the second week in july, so if any one has any feedback prior that would be great. If not I will post feedback when we get back. When are you going and are you staying at the marriott ?

thanks

scott

I'll be there this weekend -- splitting my two nights between the Marriott & Sheraton...only because 1) I need *wood status nights, and 2) with *wood I can get a later checkout (redeye on the return) than I can at Marriott.

Will be back again later this summer for several days of golf with friends, not sure where we're staying then.

Just got back from a fantastic stay at the Marriott in Lihue!!!! I was upgraded from a garden view to an ocean view (I'm only a silver but this was my 3rd stay with them in about 9 months). Before leaving for dinner, I stopped down to say "hi" to the front desk manager as she'd been great on my 2 previous stays, chatted for a bit, and when I returned from dinner there was a very nice fruit plate waiting in my room!

I was back yesterday for a spa treatment at the Alexander Spa. It's a very small location, but run well and the people very willing to help & be flexible. Great products too. If anyone wants more details or has questions, please feel free to post here or PM me and I'll answer what I can.
