Congrats to those who were able to benefit by changing to the better offer. Just completed the 15th night for this promo 4 days ago, and the 35k bonus points posted this morning. Quick and efficient. Good job, Marriott.

Bring on the Visa bonus!

I just fllowed this script to get me an easy 15K points. It took less than a minute, and "Zak" seemed to be really appreciative that I took the time to call and ask for the points.

Well done MR.

Good Luck!
Well NJ, I just made the call and I too received the additional 10,000 points and didn't have to complete any additional stays. (I have several booked anyway) I was feeling lucky today with the new lurker. Two great events with Marriott in one day!

Thanks for the tip!! ^

Thumbs down No go

This lowly Silver was targeted for 7 nights / 10,000 points, the bottom of the barrel. That's unfortunate because I've stayed about 20 nights since the promotion began in mid-February. I called the number above but the CSR said pretty plainly that the terms of the promotion say it can't be changed, and that I'm essentially stuck with what I have.

I guess I was hoping Marriott might give me some slack in changing this because I'm well on my way to Gold this year.

Rejected.

I made my phone call yesterday to the PlatPrem line. I was at the 15 night/25K bonus level. The young lady helping me had never heard of the 35K bonus ceiling. She took my cell phone number and indicated she would speak to her supervisor and call me back. She called back 15 mins later and indicated that she got it OK'd and that it would show up on my account. I checked this morning and it was ALREADY THERE!! Yippee. Every little bit helps, my wife has already spent 220K points this year alone.

I too made a call to MR and Terry was very nice and checked to see if I made the qualifications for the reward. I already long ago had the 15 nights/25k posted and as we talked on the phone about the nice weather in Utah she added the additional 10k points to my account. Glad I called.

Rejected again

If at first you don't succeed, fail, fail again. CSR said that a Silver member couldn't change the threshold that was offered to them.

I was told -- and the posts on this thread seem to confirm -- that the only individuals eligible to receive additional points for additional nights stayed will be Platinum level members.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I thought I would save you the trouble and disappointment.

Well, NJ, I am a plat, so I called and they told me they could offer me an additional 25K for 15 more nights (since the end of the promo). Since I already had 10 in, and a stay of 3 that hadn't posted yet, and 4 coming this week, it's a slam dunk for me. Thanks again, NJ!

BTW, I'd like to point out again one of the seldom-trumpetted benefits of being a top-level elite: they really go all out to make sure the right thing happens for you. While I'm sure everybody gets taken care of, being a platinum means they go the extra mile for you.

This also demonstrates a major benefit of FlyerTalk. Had it not been for FT, I wouldn't even be aware that there was a difference in the way Marriott Rewards targeted its members for this bonus; never mind me getting the extra 15K points.

I am currently a silver MR member and called up after having such good luck getting the 7 nights/10k promo changed to 10 nights/15k promo that I thought I would go for the platinum, so to speak. I was told by a CSR supervisor that there were in fact 6 types of offers that were offered by Marriott, all based on one's history with the company.

I told her that I am a gold status member at a competitor and thought it unfair that they should offer more points to people who clearly already stay with Marriott and not reward people who might consider switching allegiances. She told me that Marriott did not want people just to switch because of the promotion but then go back to their original program of choice. I told her that even if we were to switch just to obtain the bonus points Marriott would still reap the benefits of our patronage (e.g. moolah) and might even convince some of us to switch allegiances.

Given that I have only stayed with Marriott 7 times in the last 5 years, she told me that she would match the 35k promo only if I stayed with Marriott 35 nights this year. I am not sure I will make it, but I think this is the best one can do as a gold/silver MR member.

The offer still does not make sense to me.

I have been MR Gold for four years, but last year I had only 40 paid nights and 10 reward nights. So I when I was about to loose my gold status I placed a call to MR and was offered a "challenge" - 10 nights in the next threee month to get the Gold back. So I did that in 3 weeks. However my Mega bonus offer was only 15k for 7 nights. Once I got both (gold and mega bonus), I stayed quite a few more nights (almost 40 nights since Jan 1).

When I came across this thread, I realized that I maybe able to get a bigger bonus. I called MR, the answer I got - " Since you recieved a challege for Gold status, there is nothing MR can offer you at this time". Called a week later and got different agent, asked for bigger bonus - bingo 20k extra for just a phone call (upgraded the offer to 35k for 25 nights).

Thank you Marriott.

Checking in with my experience. Gold MR Member. Received the 7 night/15k offer, which I qualified for several weeks ago. I emailed customer service via the MR website and requested they enroll me in the 35k promo (I already had exceeded 15 nights over the period). I was emailed back promptly and the points posted in my account. Thanks Marriott!

I had the reverse problem... I was in the 15 night/25K promotion, but I got transferred onto a local project, so I only had 14 nights. They wouldn't let the lack of one night slide by, so they were very pleasant about "downgrading" my promo.
