Grand Flora Update?
Does anyone have an update on the Grand Flora? Are they implementing any sort of high-speed internet access i.e. wireless?
Also, does anyone remember the name of the sedan company that the Grand Flora contracts out with to take guests to the airport? When we were there in October, we got a great ride to FCO in a Jaguar. I'd like to see if I can give them more business.

I only wanted to post and say that I am very jealous. The fact that you inquire as to high speed at the Flora must mean you travel there on business. For that fact, I am jealous.

Neo, I will be staying at the Grand Flora in May. I'll post an update when I return. WiFi would be awesome! If not, I'm sure I can find a hot spot in Rome.
What was the cost of the Jaguar to FCO?
Any other tips on the Flora would be appreciated. What room should I request, restaurants, etc.

When I was last there (January) I enquired - no high-speed access in the rooms, nor any plans for it. Wi-Fi won't work well in old-construction hotels like the Flora.
There is allegedly high-speed access in the Business Center, but I've never been able to use it.

They have a PC in the business center. I think that is what they are referring to as high-speed access.
To book a sedan through the hotel is 75 euros. You can get a much better deal if you contact the sedan company directly. Highly recommend Palazzi executive sedan. http://www.palazzi.net If you are the VIP type they can provide bodyguards, jet charters, yachts etc. ^ Everything an aspiring James Bond needs
A more mundane trip for two from the Grand Flora is 51.50 Euros

One other question. Has anyone every been able to successfully dial out on their laptop? I tried and the antiquated hotel phone system went nutso.
Just got a GSM blackberry so hopefully that will keep me up to date on e-mail.

Yes...I used to have that problem but either my new computer or a new phone system fixed it. Got consistent dial-up speeds of 40+ kbps.

Good news! The Flora now has high-speed access, allegedly in all the rooms. No idea what it costs yet, but there was a data port behind the desk...plugged in my ethernet cable...and voila! No log-in screen like STSN at US Marriotts.
Will report back after I get my bill.
(Edited to add...there was no charge!)
