cash plus points - best deals?
Looking at the new cash + points chart, I wanted to see how much you are effectively paying per point (compared to the points only value).
As displayed in the table below, it looks like Category 5/6 are the best deals for cash+points and something weird happens at Cat 9. Anyone else have any thoughts on this? Am I doing some math wrong here? Assuming this is correct, why would you ever do cash+points for Cat 9 when you can buy points of 1.25c?

It's a bad deal all around if you compare to the old cost of buying Starpoints...
Of course it remains to be seen whether Marriott has become addicted to the revenue stream from selling points, having seen how SPG does it... (or whether they remain with their no-discounts policy)
