Marriott Status Question
Will have SPG Gold status soon based on spending on my SPG Biz card. Will then be matching to Marriott Gold status. When you match into Marriott Gold status, do they credit you as having 50 elite night credits (plus whatever paid nights you already have in your Marriott rewards account)?
Plan was to match SPG Gold to Marriott Gold, get the Marriott chase card (15 additional elite night credits, for a total of 65), and then just stay at Marriott at least 10 nights to hit the 75 figure for Platinum status. But I'm unsure if matching to Marriott immediately puts me at 50 or whether I am misunderstanding.

You earn SPG nights and points at properties in the SPG program. You earn Rewards nights and points at properties in the Rewards program. In each case, you get the benefits and points bonus associated with the Elite level.
If you match SPG Gold to Rewards Gold and get 15 nights at the anniversary of your Marriott Chase Visa, you will have 15 Elite-qualifying nights, not 65 nights. Plus, you'll have whatever nights you actually stayed at properties in the Rewards program.

When your Elite level is matched between a linked SPG and Rewards account, there are no elite nights or points automatically posted to either account, just because of the status match.
