Marriott e-certificates re-deposit

Marriott e-certificates re-deposit
When I book a Marriott using my reward points, it gives an e-certificate for the Category of hotel I book. The cancellation policy is 1 day before arrival. If I cancel the reservation, do I get the certificate deposited back which will be tied to the hotel category or do I get the points back?

If you used points, the points are redeposited into your account if you cancel.
