I find this very interesting on a personal basis. We've been married for 39 years and everything is combined financially except for various credit cards and loyalty programs. We have separate Marriott cards and accounts. We had the same for Hilton until we bought into the New York Hilton. They made us, and I mean there was no alternative, combine our existing accounts into one. That was been the biggest PITA ever since. Both names are on the account, but unless they have changed in recent years, online reservations could only be made in my name. When they were building a lot of new Hamptons my wife did some stays on her own. I would have to make the reservaton, then call and change to her name. After she stayed, I would have to call to get credit.

She found that she got treated much better at Marriott and her reservations could be in her name. Since she pays through her business for a lot of our stays, we book in her name. She has been Platinum for a number of years and in 2 years should be lifetime Platinum so we rarely stay at Hilton anymore. Actually at a Doubletree right now for a basketball tournament and will be at the Hilton Ft. Worth next month for a NCAA tournament. Those might be our only Hilton stays for the year.

What do you mean when you say that you "bought into" the New York Hilton? Has part of it been turned into condos?
