Having a senior moment

I haven't been travelling for business the last few years, so I need a bit of a refresher on booking a room for points/e-certs.

First, there's an e-cert on my account from Chase Visa. Can that be booked on the same reservation as the remainder of the nights for points, or do they have to be booked separately?

Second, there used to be a four-character code for booking certain points stays such as weekend awards, which were lower than individual night awards (they weren't called Points Savers, just "Axxx" or something like that. Have they eliminated that in favor of the "per night" reservation on the website? 40k per night seems a bit steep for a CY.

Lastly, if I book an e-cert for one night and three additional nights on points, would the fifth night be free automatically?

Thanks for your patience. I feel like such a N00b.

Reward category depends on many factors. Some CYs are worth it, some are not. Allegedly award redemption is the main basis for category basis.

No, only time where you get 4+1 is when you use points. You can do 4+1 on points and additional with e-cert (provided e-cert matches or exceeds the category)

I think you remember "ALON" and "GLON" which were the Hilton Honors program legacy awards...

Travel Package is the best use of Marriott points if you can do a whole week in one property.

Thanks for the updates. Yes, I fondly remember ALON and GLON.

It looks like I can't book the e-cert from the Visa card and points on contiguous nights in the same reservation, though.
