RI Carlsbad

Recently used a cert to book the RI in Carlsbad for a trip to Legoland….have to say that I was really impressed by the hotel and the staff. Location is a little bit inland in an office park area, so not down by the ocean, but quiet and not too far from the 5.

The room was pretty standard for a renovated RI (we had a 1BR), with the rest of the hotel being terrific. Less than 5 minutes from Legoland (they run a free shuttle 9/10/11am to the park, 4/5/6pm return) In addition to a good hot breakfast, they also have an evening happy hour during the week - they had salad and chicken and dumplings the day we were there, plus free soda, wine and beer on tap (a decent IPA), then fresh baked cookies for dessert. Terrific staff working both breakfast and dinner. There is also a nice outdoor area with a tv, and a small pool/hot tub in the courtyard area.

Seems like a very well run hotel with a great staff. Best RI that I have ever stayed in, and would gladly return again Nice option for anyone in the area - looked to be a mix of tourist families and business travelers. Took us about 30 minutes to head over to Escondido the following day for the Zoo Safari Park.
