Caribbean in August

Still narrowing down a 5 night getaway early August or late July. Would you consider the Caribbean during this time or stay away?

It will be hot anywhere, but if you just want to avoid hurricanes, Curacao and Aruba should be fine.

We have looked at Aruba and Costa Rica but trying to see if we can make it work with flights. That is why we are looking into other places as well.

Earlier the better, as you get into August or especially Sept chance for hurricanes goes up a lot. End of July is still relatively low risk.

We had a nice adult only vacation in Curacao in August a few years ago. It was REALLY hot. Like 90-91 degrees with 95% humidity. So outdoor activities that did not involve being in the water were pretty miserable. We drove around in our a/c rental car and hopped out for very short stops at the sites then got right back in the a/c.

Yes depending where you go there the humidity really kicks up in Aug and becomes uncomfortable for a couple months.

Being from CA we are not used to humidity. Uncomfortable was not how I would have described it at the time. ;-)

We had a very nice time, but we really had to slow down, drink lots of water and plan to spend 10 am to 4 pm or so at the beach or pool.
