Problem trying to redeem Visa 1-5 certificate

This is going to be long, hope someone familiar with how Marriott rewards work can tell me if I have a problem.

I recently got my 1-5 Visa annual certificate. I'm also hoping to earn a 1-5 award through Mega.

I called to reserve the 2 nights, with the 2 different certificates to be used for payment closer to the dates. Reservation made by phone.

I decided to change the dates, so I cancelled this reservation. I was able to do this myself, on line.

Called back to make just a one-night res, using the Visa certificate I already have. They can't see it, no one can find it. I said maybe it's still attached to the old res, they said yes, there it is, we'll fix it.

I get the confirm and it says I'm using 25,000 pts, which I am NOT.

Called back and said I want to use the Visa 1-5 cert, not 25,000 points, they said yes we'll fix it.

Get a new confirm which is very cryptic. Says it is booked using a RWDS Match Cert (no idea what a Match Cert is). Says NO points were taken (good), says I owe 1.50 in taxes (weird).

Problem was, I could not print it from the e-mail, so I went into my Reservations on the Marriott website and e-mailed it to myself.

Here is where the worrisome part comes in.

Although under my reservations it says No points, and the Match Cert, when it is e-mailed to myself it CHANGES to an award staying using 25,000 points when I PRINT it out!

Yes, you read that right, I did it twice, the reservation on the website transforms when e-mailed into something completely different!

Before I call I want to know if I even have a problem...I do NOT want to use 25,000 points, I want to use the Visa annual 1-5 certificate. On NONE of the confirms does it say "Visa Certificate", just exactly the wording I've detailed above.

I've been less than happy today with the times I've called and been told everything is "fixed" when it doesn't seem to me like it has been.

from things that happened to me in the past,I believe MR needs to code it as a pts stay on their side, for payment reasons. If you CX it then you dont get pts back but the cert back

If for some reason pts are pulled (has happened to me ) then a simple call and explaining what happened was enough to get it all straightened out

Ok, I won't worry, I'll just keep an eye on my account and make sure they do not take any points. And if they do I'll call and get it fixed.
