That's not how it works. Calling a property and asking them to put U1 on your reservation will not entitle you to or boost your chances at an upgrade. In fact, depending on who you speak to at the property, awareness of where to put that code, or what you are even talking about will likely be slim to none.

These are internal codes for Marriott's PMS system. They also serve as a quick reference guide when someone at the property is looking at your reservation. Most of this information is passed along directly from MARSHA to the property specific PMS system.

LOL I once call the hotel for upgrade and they reply me put the upgrade request on the list And when I arrived at the hotel, FD agents' computer will see U1. Maybe this makes clear lol

wow what a mixture of codes from various systems....not sure what value there is to the general public....additionally the PMS systems are about to be changed out to a universal (global) system for all brands, I'm certain this will result in at least the PMS codes being changed

PS this is not an all inclusive list of codes.....not even close

having a "U1" doesn't mean you'll get an upgrade, just notes the reservation that the guest has requested one
