Check in at 2am?
My flight arrives at 12midnight, Jan 17 so after I get bags and go through customs I'm estimating I'll arrive to the hotel around 2am. Will I need to pay for two nights in order to stay until the morning of 18th? Or can I do an extra early checkin and pay for one night?
Thanks!

You'll need to pay for 2 nights unless you get extraordinarily lucky.
I wouldn't count on getting that lucky. You'll need to book two nights.

Two nights. My experience is that after 6am and you might only need one night but 1-2AM for sure two nights.

I do this a fair amount. Always need to pay for 2 nights.

My experience is that 10am arrival gets me 1 night, 8-10a gets me access to the concierge lounge that morning but room later.

Also, I would suggest calling the hotel before the day of your arrival to let them know that you will be arriving around 2am.
While a guaranteed reservation "should" always mean there is a room waiting for you when you arrive, sometimes, if a hotel is really full or you arrive after their nightly room processing, you could find they gave away your room or processed you as a no show.

Pretty common ocurrence in some parts of the world. Just reserve the night before, make sure that the property (not the 800# people) knows that you won't be in until roughly 2:00 AM, and you will be in good company.
