Reservation/Points Question

Hello FT,

I tried to search through the forum before asking this, but I was not able to find any solid answer so I thought I would throw it out there. Do any of you know if it is possible to book a reservation now with a credit card and then switch the form of payments to points/e-certs at a later date? The reason I am asking is because I have enough points to book 2 nights now, but I am coming up on my Marriott CC anniversary so I will get another e-cert that I want to use for the 3rd night. The three nights are bookable with points right now. Should I just book the two? Book points and cash for 3 and then can I change that later? Book all three w/ no points? Any insight would be great, thanks!

You are not required to have the full amount of points/certs to make a points booking. Book the 3 nights, then call to have them attach the cert to the booking for the 3rd night.

Do you call the rewards line or the hotel directly for this?

Don't need to call anyone.......just book the point stay on Marriott.com......
Call MR only after you're ready to switch from negative points ti using certs....
