Website strangeness

Am searching for a stay in Dubai for a few days next week. On the search results page, I get "from" x, but when I click through "view rates", none of those rates are available. Can I get those rates by calling in, or is it just a website error?

I've been thinking about posting the same question, been looking at New York over Labor Day weekend, same thing--lots of "rates from" what seem to be low rates that are nowhere to be found when I pick the hotel and click through to the actual rates. Marriott Concierge, care to explain? Socrates?

Is it a multi day reservation? They tend to give you the lowest rate for any room, and any night in your range. So the first two nights might be 450, but the last night 250, it will say "from 250"

Yes, I'm looking for a four day stay, and I see the rates change sometimes during the four days, but there are several hotels that say "from" a rate that is well below anything I can find for any of the four days. IIRC, in some cases the lowest actual rate is nearly double the "from" rate.

yes, it's a multi-day (23 April to 27 April), but the rate shown for, say the Marriott Dubai Harbour, is "from 900AED), but 900AED isn't available until 9 May. From 23-25 it's 1150 and from 25-27 it's 1250.

That's disingenuous.

THAT'S where they can get the "from" rate? A date two weeks out of the date(s) you asked for? REALLY effin' disingenuous. Borderline fraud IMHO.

When I run those dates it says from 1150

Weird.

Your original post was at 1:14 AM Dubai time. I am wondering if the hotel was updating its rates at that time; after all they have to do it at some point and it only makes sense to do it overnight.

I, like the other posters, found 1150 AED when I did a search, but we found those prices during normal business hours of 7:50 AM, 9:12 AM and now 6:20 PM in Dubai respectively.

Yes, I'm getting 1150 straight now. Which feels very high when I thought I'd get in for 900!

Still, I'll get it booked.

It certainly doesn't sound like they are deliberately misleading, rather that there was some kind of glitch.

I have experienced this as well with the Marriott at Westchase. It only seems to be that hotel, but it is quite frequent.
