Another cancelation question
Guys
I'm once again confused with the T&C language. I'm booking a few nights in NYC and very likely I'll have to cancel. Where do I find out if this is an advanced purchase hotel (nowhere on the reservation does it indicate that)
Also, it says total taxes and fees is $14 - is this typically refunded back if I cancel before July 1 or do they only charge it after i check in?
Thanks!
Canceling Your Reservation
You may cancel your reservation for no charge until 6:00 PM hotel time on July 1, 2013.
Please note that we will assess a fee if you must cancel after this deadline.
If you have made a prepayment, we will retain all or part of your prepayment. If not, we will charge your credit card.
This fee equals 1 night of your room charge plus tax (for the first night of your reservation).

Given it says you can cancel your reservation by July 1st, I doubt it was an advanced purchase rate. So as long as you cancel before July 1st, your CC shouldn't be charged.

Yes, you will definitely know that a reservation is prepaid when you book it. Marriott is very clear about this. From the T&C you quoted, then your CC hasn't been touched yet and they won't charge you until you check-out/no show.
When you do cancel, make sure you get a cancellation number - just in case.
