Platinum benefits at the Courtyards
Are platinums supposed to get free breakfast at Courtyard properties in the USA?

I did receive a $5 gift card towards breakfast each day at a CY in Newport News VA a few months ago. Not sure if it was because I was Platinum or staying under the Government Rate. Because of the markup at the CY Bistro, it basically got me a large cup of coffee and a banana!

I was given breakfast at the terrific buffets at the CYs in Hong Kong last week, so I thought I'd ask, as I found myself at a CY in Virginia last night.

The only Plat benefit I have received at a CY is an upgrade to a suite. Most CYs don't have suites - but a few do.

Some questions, if you have the time to respond: Are you a platinum? Do you remember whether you had a special rate which included breakfast? What were the circumstances: i.e. were you given coupons for breakfast? were you told you were being comped to breakfast as a platinum/gold? were you told nothing but ate breakfast and weren't charged? did you request free breakfast?

I also tend to get a suite upgrade at CYs. Note I have to ask for it, but if it is available, I almost always get one (I was 100% for suite upgrades last year with almost 50 nights in CYs.)

I received free breakfast at a CY in Panama this week as a plat, it wasn't included in my rate.

I'm one for three for free breakfasts at Courtyards in Germany this week. Free breakfast at Munich city center, but not in Berlin or Hamburg.
