Is there a way to transfer points to a non-spouse -- not for an award?

Friend wants to gift me some of his points.

Per the T&Cs, no. However, it is easily and often done. Book an award, transfer the points, and then cancel the award.

I was able to do it without a reservation.
Just fill out the form and leave the reservation information blank.

I am an MR PLAT and we often travel with some friends who have MR points but NO status. From time to time, I end up using MY points to reserve two rooms so that they an also get the same benefits as me.
Will I be able to do an award redemption under MY name and transfer their points to MY account?

Yes. Make the award reservation, have them call (or you can do it) MRCS & have them fill out the form to be faxed for signature. MRCS wil need your name/MR#/award ressie#, as well as their name/MR#/phone #. Form needs the signature (theirs, but if they ok you writing their signature you can sign), fax back & points will be dropped into your account.
