Does anyone know about a "Lifetime Platinum" level?
I was speaking to a guy last week who said he was given this award my Marriott.

There has long been a program where you are granted "emeritus" status based on stays, points, etc., see:

Also, there are reports of a loosening of the criteria for some this year as a "20th Anniversary Gift", see:

A good friend of mine received one last year. He hasn't stayed with Marriott for 2 years.

I've heard of the following Platinum Levels:
Platinum (Plain old MR Platinum)
Platinum Elite
Platinum Preferred
Lifetime Platinum
Are the any others. Other than plain old MR Platinum has does one obtain the other Platinum levels? Socrates?

Two of the requirements for PLT Preferred is 125 nights last year and a minimum of the last three as a PLT Elite.
Not sure about the $$$ part, but if you don't have the two above, then $$$'s don't count.
