"Priority Check-in", an elite benefit?

I noticed on the MR website that "priority check-in" is listed as an elite benefit. Have any elites experienced this? I know that some other chains utilize special check-in lines for elites, but I have never seen this at Marriott, nor have I ever noticed receiving any check-in priority as an elite.

I've seen it at certain Marriotts, most recently the Marriott Marquis in NYC....unfortunately there are usually 6 agents working the regular line and only one at Elite, so it doesn't pay to bother with the Elite line as the regular line moves faster.

Could "priority check in" mean those instances where your folio, key, etc. are already waiting for you when you check in?

This benefit came up HUGE for us during our one stay at the big Marriott in N.O. Mardi Gras Marathon weekend a couple years ago - plus another big convention going on in the hotel. Regular check-in had huge lines; elite check-in about 1 minute. Very nice. Got a concierge-level upgrade as well...

I've been picked up at the airport before and was given my room key while on the shuttle by the driver. Selected my arrival gift and gave it back to the driver. Walked straight to my room upon arrrival. Nice touch.

One morning last summer (~10am) the lobby at the Rihga Royal was teeming with guests waiting to check in to their rooms which were still being cleaned.

Our turn at the desk, the clerk recognized our status and discreetly offered to check us in to a higher floor (older room, dbl bed) so that we could rest up from our red-eye flight, until our room was ready. She had told everyone else before us that their rooms would be ready by 2-3pm at the earliest.

If this ain't priority check-in, I don't know what is
