Concierge Lounge Access - During the Day
Hi all,
Just curious as to what people's experiences have been re: C. Lounge access during the day (i.e. excluding the normal breakfast and evening hours).
My experience has been that in most Marriotts one has access during the day - there are normally cookies, and/or fruit/coffee available. Granted, there is no attendant during this mid-day period, (which I do not expect at all - and is fine with me).
However, am currently at a property where the room shuts down at 10 am sharp - and no access granted until 5 p.m.
I have never run into this before, and was simply curious as to what people's experiences have been.
Thanks.

Given the spottiness of recent c-lounge hours, I would try to negotiate getting comp'ed on at least the non-booze minibar items & snacks, if your room is so equipped.

I would agree with your findings. Most Marriotts have the lounge open (with room card). I have seen pretzels or bowl of fruit. If they have a mini fridge - then that is open with water/soda. Usually the main fridge in the back is the beer/wine/milk - so that is locked in the kitchen.
I am usually away (work) during the day - but if Mrs. MSP Flyer comes with -- or it is vacation - we might stop in during the day. I don't recall any of them ever being locked during 10a-5p (but again - rarely am in hotel during these hours).
Personally - I always recommend taking 1-2 soda/waters from the lounge at night. Then I have these available during the day in my room (warm - but with ice it is ok).

As far as I know, the lounge policy is left to each hotel - some are open only mornings & evenings (business type suburban properties), some open all day (downtown) and some even open on weekends. So you are going to find a mix but I don't see why they should comp you drinks, etc when they are not open. Maybe there isn't high enough of a demand at that hotel to have it available all day/night. If there is a Marriott standard, then it certainly isn't followed since I can name numerous exceptions.

MSP - Thanks. I agree 100% - and this has been my experience for the last several years. I have started taking bottled water and my gingerale back to my room at night..lol.

Socrates -
Thanks. Great news. As a result of my discussion with someone in Exec. Office, the Lounge will be open during the day - starting today.
I was pretty confident that was the standard.
