Caribbean Vacation

I'm looking to go to the Caribbean with my wife on a Rewards stay for three or four nights. Want something directly on the beach. Also need to be able to fly on Delta to the location (bump vouchers).

Timing is in September.

Any thoughts, experiences?

You can book rewards stays at Marriott up to a year in advance - so my advice is the sooner you try to book, the better - especially for the more touristy spots. I understand from a colleague trying to go to hawaii with Marriott rewards that they had to book almost one year ahead of time to get a spot. We recently redeemed points for a hotel to take the kid to Disney World for next April and already a few of the Marriott hotels had no rooms available for that far ahead. Good luck.

I would recommend the San Juan Marriott. Great property, friendly staff, nice beach and pool. Please keep in mind you are going to the caribbean in the middle of hurricane season. I would suggest looking into trip insurance, just in case mother nature wreaks havoc. By the way this property has weathered a few major storms, it has its own generating plant and water supply. Have a great trip.

While my experience is limited to the Casa Magna in Cancun (which IMHO can be considered Caribbean), it was right on the beach, as was the JW right next door.

Enjoy your trip!
