Does Marriott Match Your Status from other program?

I was able to get Starwood to Match my Hilton Diamond status. I wonder if Marriott will do the same. Any advice?

Marriott is a tough comp.....I've heard of a few getting GOLD comp....I've yet to hear of anyone getting a PLAT comp...which I believe is a GOOD thing.

I echo your thoughts IM4Travel not only in the tough comp, gold if you are lucky but also that I'm so glad that they don't or seldom comp Plats... Its not watered down like SPG,and Hh

Are you trying to get top level with everyone? If you do that, it'll take a lot of travelling to requalify with everyone. If you spread your stays out too thin with everyone, then you won't requalify and get bumped down a notch or two and lose out on the perks.

I tried asking someone at Marriott to match my earned status' at Hyatt Diamond, Hilton Diamond and Starwood Platinum. She replied that if I stayed 11 more nights between then and Dec 2001 last year, I would get Gold status only.

Then 9/11 happened and I sort of forgot about that challenge.

Anyway, I'm glad they came out with the double points/double nights promo... I'm 2 nights away from Gold!

I asked the match using my Hyatt Diamond and Starwood Platinum status, but they did not do it. Instead, they said they would give me Gold if I stay 12 nights in the first two months.

It was the beginning of this year. Since I was so busy, I did not have a chance to send the statement/record after the 12th night stay. Thanks to their double night reward promotion, I will actually make it to platinum level next week, yipee!

Thank you all for sharing your experience. I am getting very poor customer service via email (probably Sydney since I am in Singapore). Any advice which service center is "better"? US one in UTAH?

I have a HH Diamond (not earned but comped based on 25 nights in 1 month)....new project demaned stay at Marriott.
So I called customer service - told them about my HH status & new offer AA upgrading to Silver - told her I'd really like an upgarde as I would be staying in Marriott for over 4 months starting soon. She spoke to her supervisor asked me to enrol in the gold or platinum challenge - 12/18 nights in 3 months. I told her I'll take the platinum challenge - she asked me to fax my current HH statement.

After 2-3 days I called again & she said I can only enrol in gold challenge - so after "disussing" for 15 minutes I asked for her supervisor. Se was quite nice & enrolled me in the platinum challenge (18 nights in 3 months at any Marriott - I am at the Residence Inn) & also comped me to Gold right away - so there goes!!

Checked in under my status this Monday - I get Gold benefits & hopefully will have Platinum by Thanksgiving.
